A wedding is one of the greatest occasions in a person’s life. Everyone wants to make it their most special day since this is the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. There are a whole lot of aspects which need to be taken care of while planning your own wedding. Right from the flowers to the dress to the cake, everything needs to be perfect since you won’t get a second chance with this. More importantly for the bride, the wedding gown needs to be perfect as is the décor of the party. Though there are a lot of options available to take your pick, of a wedding planner, from, it is always better and more fun to do all the planning yourself. Though it might really get stressful during the course of the last few months before the wedding, it will all be worth it if the entire event is able to bring the best out of everyone present for the same.

Always start with the parts which do not require much time to sort out. For instance, the florist needs to be sorted out as early as possible. First decide on the type of flowers you would want for the wedding and the amount of the same. Choose the flowers keeping in mind the theme of the marriage. Next choose the florist after checking a few options. Though there might be a florist who might offer you lower rates than the previous one, it is always better to opt for the one who looks more reliable. After all, you can’t be running around on your wedding day for someone to deliver the flowers. Next is the wedding gown for the event. Though most women know already which dress they would like to wear on their special day, it does not hurt to file around a few stores. There are a number of stores which specialize in wedding gowns during the marriage season. If you find them too expensive, then there is always the option of opting for last year’s fashion since these would be available cheaply off a sale counter. In addition to this, make sure that you get the bridesmaids to dress accordingly. Have a set of accessories which would highlight the dress.

Finally, every marriage needs to have some memories which can be preserved. This is where the photographers step in. There is always the doubt whether you should hire a professional photographer or ask a relative to click the pictures. Though it would be a little expensive, it is always better to choose the first option since it does not do much to your memories if the next day you wake up to see that you are nowhere to be found in the vows frame!

Reception Style

Choosing Your Reception Style
The time of day, type of entertainment, and refreshments define
the style of reception. It should also be suitable to the formality or
informality of the wedding ceremony.
Breakfast
A breakfast gathering after an early morning ceremony might
include wedding cake and champagne for dessert. It is, after all, a
very special occasion!

Luncheon
The celebration begins between 12 and 2 p.m. Guests enjoy salads,
sandwiches, and finger foods. Beverages might include soda
pop, tea, coffee, punch, and alcoholic drinks. The couple cuts the
cake at the end of the meal. Guests enjoy it as dessert and then
depart.
Cake and Punch
Many couples opt for this if they are having a small gathering
between 2 and 5 p.m. Guests are served wedding cake and simple
beverages such as punch, tea, or coffee. Sometimes this is called a
tea reception.
Cocktail
Traditionally they begin around 5 p.m., never later than 6 p.m. It
is often used as a cost-effective alternative to an expensive dinner
reception. Guests are served hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Many
couples select a few alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks offered
through the bar.
If you are planning this style, make sure that your guests understand
that a full meal will not be served. Cutting the cake and serving
it as dessert is considered the highlight of this type of reception.
Dinner
Food costs in a dinner reception almost always represent the
largest portion of the wedding expense. A buffet dinner, where
guests serve themselves and carry their plates to their seats, is less
expensive. A sit-down dinner, where food is brought to the table,
is the expected tradition when you have a formal wedding. Dinner

receptions begin between 6 and 8 p.m. Sometimes a cocktail hour
precedes the dinner. The cake is cut and served after dinner. There
is usually music and dancing as part of the celebration.
Belated Reception
Sometimes the couple has eloped and other times a family crisis
forced the newlyweds to delay their celebration. A belated reception
is one that takes place after the date of the wedding ceremony.
The bride and groom wear their wedding attire, and the customary
traditions (toasts, cake, music, meal, etc.) can all be enjoyed. The
premise is as if the couple had been married on that day.
Second Reception
If the marriage celebration took place far from the family and
friends of either the bride or groom, a second reception might be
held so that those loved ones can also celebrate the marriage. Its
level of formality does not have to duplicate that of the original
reception. However there’s no reason that it shouldn’t.
